Orange Is the New Black has received critical acclaim, particularly praised for humanizing prisoners[17][18] and for its depiction of race, sexuality, gender and body types.[19] The first season received positive reviews from critics, review aggregator Metacritic gave it a weighted average score of 79 out of 100 based on reviews from 32 critics, indicating favorable reviews.[20] On Rotten Tomatoes, season one has a 93% approval rating based on 40 reviews, with an average rating of 8.2 out of 10 . I was lucky enough to attend the season premiere of Orange Is the New Black in Berlin last month. Amazing as it was, it left me hooked on Season 4 after just one episode, with no way of watching the rest for OVER A WEEK. So faced with a weekend home alone, with no responsibilities, I naturally finished the whole season in two days.


For those who only have time for a shorter sentence - like the 23% of respondents who plan to re-watch just a few episodes - Netflix also released the series most re-watched episodes. As expected, viewers prefer to re-indulge in the last three episodes of a season, but the one that remains supreme is, of course, Season 1, Episode 1 - you never forget your first time:


After the heartbreaking and tense way that Orange is the New Black ended last year, it's a relief that this new season is a little more hopeful and a little more resilient. There are still dark and suspenseful moments, but the change of pace during the prison riot is welcome. The music, particularly the songs that close out each episode, reflects that pace and tone well.
